Hi Ryan:      I wonder if Master Bracy has a Bagua training video where he covers the following:
1. how is the foot pressing on the floor while moving?
2. are the toes grabbing into the floor, and what is happening to the hill ---is it lightly weighted or full, or viceversa?
3. what is going on between hill and toes ---on the forward and back foot ---is the foot contracting or expanding?
4. if one is to remain relax in the upper body, are we still pressing hard into any part of the foot?
For example, as I walk or step the circle, or if done in linear/straight practice, I am afraid of pressing down hard with any part of the foot because I think that is against the principles.  

Should circle walking not be a like a "cat walk".  That is, a lot of intention, force, heaviness, and pressing must be experienced on the foot that is on the floor.
the simplest, and I think best answer, for ba gua walking is to study tom brown's "stalking step."
I read the best description of it years ago.. I think in the 80s. was from one of early books.. I think one on tracking.

it explains the graduated use of the foot in stepping / tracking, which is identical to Ba Gua stepping.

In the early stages of ba gua walking, beginners concentrate on "mud stepping" to train to full leg muscle use and to stop letting the knee slide forward and its use as a fulcrum.  Later stepping practice, like Tom Brown's "stalking step" connects the weight and musculature through every part of the foot. 

Pay special attention to not becoming static.  the ba gua artist must be able to turn, twist and strike effectively from every possible angle.

In practicing the 8 Guas should one be continuously re-orientating the upper body to face
the centre of the circle as in the "Ba Gua primer: walking the circle"? This is what I have been doing but just wanted to check...

great question. somewhere I have this principle explained on video, but I dont have it up yet as a lesson. ba gua, in combat moves from every direction... front back, from any orientation left and right. 
Essential to the art is the ability to fight and move in any direction. TURNING TO THE CENTER WHILE YOU WALK THE GUAs is important because of THE SKILL OF ELIMINATING THE "easy turn" positions (where your body wants to rest and hang out). Instead, learn in every movement how to connect every muscle, ligament and tendon to the the entire movement.... not only in every movement, but in every fraction of a movement.
